The former Hollywood power couple confirmed the news a la Twitter.
Carrey wrote: "Jenny and I have just ended our 5 year relationship. I'm grateful 4 the many blessings we've shared and I wish her the very best! S'okay!"
Minutes later McCarthy confirmed the break up Twittering, "I'm so grateful for the years Jim and I had together. I will stay committed to Jane and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart."
This isn't the first time Carrey has used Twitter to break news. In February he posted about becoming a grandfather to his daughter Jane's first child.
