ISH REVIEW: HOT TUB TIME MACHINE
It definitely didn't disappoint. I actually liked it twice as much as The Hangover (yes, I said it)! HTTM has a similar premise -- guy buddy flick with plenty of beer, hot babes and male bonding...just in a jacuzzi.
John Cusack, Rob Corddry and Craig Robinson star as estranged BFF's who go on a ski trip with Clark Duke (who plays Cusack's chacater's nephew) and wind up traveling back in time after a drunken night in the hotel hot tub! Pretty basic plot, but with an hilarious script and directing by Steve Pink who worked with Cusack on the hugely popular films "High Fidelity" and "Grosse Pointe Blank," the whole 80's flashback works --- neon colors, leg warmers, big hair and all.
And what works even better in "Hot Tub Time Machine" are the performances, with Cusack reliving the era that made him a famous and Cordddry who's manic over-sexed persona almost steals the show. Robinson, has some of the most funny moments which include singing a new rendition of "Jesse's Girl" and by staring into the camera while saying "hot tub time machine." Newcomer, Duke, plays the innocent tag-along who doesn't quit get why these pals have to live out their past to get back to the present.
CAST:
Lou - Rob Corddry
Nick - Craig Robinson
Jacob - Clark Duke
Bellboy - Crispin Glover
Alice - Lizzy Caplan
Repairman - Chevy Chase

American Idol Recap: Audition For The Idol "Tour"
Idol's theme this week was Billboard No. 1s, with Miley Cyrus as mentor. It got off to a really rough start -- as adorable and successful as Miley is, clearly mentoring nine of the older singers was a bit of a stretch! In past seasons we've seen some really great mentoring going on, advice you could hang your guitar on, but not last night. It was a little more like the advice subtext was - have a famous dad and hook up with Disney when you're a kid. This was a make'em or break'em night, because the final ten will take to the road on the Idol Summer Tour, which, as we all know, is a great opportunity for those who didn't win, to get some great experience and perhaps record deals.
Lee Dewyze, sang The Letter by The Box Tops, which he performed without his guitar. Lee seemed to have loosened up a bit and connected with the audience more. All the judges except for Simon dug it. Then things took a turn for the worse.
Paige Miles, did Against All Odds by Phil Collins and seemed to have disappeared from the competition right before our eyes. All the judges, even Ellen, couldn't muster up anything good about the performance.
Then things just got a lot more weird when Tim Urban did Queen's Crazy Little Thing Called Love. If there had been a real mentor helping the kid out maybe things wouldn't have gone so wrong. Urban, who is adorable, in that Jonas Brother's kind of way, started sliding and jumping into the fan pit, that along with a bad arrangement unleashed all the negative feedback the judges could muster up.
Aaron Kelly won the judges over with Aerosmith's I Don't Want To Miss A Thing. Even with a bad case of Paige's laryngitis he was able to get through it with pitch perfection, according to the judges.
Crystal Bowersox did Me and Bobby McGee by Janis Joplin -- Simon said her rendition was as good as Pink's.
Michael Lynche crooned When A Man Loves A Woman by Percy Sledge, he may be old school R&B, but the audience loves that! People may call him corny, but the guy can sing, he loves being on stage and looks like he's actually having a good time. Randy didn't love the song choice, Kara thought it was too safe. Simon said that the audition could have taken place in any decade, that Mike should have simplified it to bring it up to date. Cowell actually gave him some great advice and encouragement telling Lynche that he has great charisma, a great voice and people like him. Ellen just said "this woman loves that man".
Andrew Garcia laid down the guitar on the advice of Miss Miley, doing I Heard It Through The Grapevine by Marvin Gaye. To say it was badly received by all the judges would be an understatement. Simon said "the arrangement was horrific, you sucked the soul out of that song!" These contestants are quite extraordinary, the way they're able to take criticism. When the judges pour it on, it's like watching torture at Guantanamo.
Katie Stevens, seemed to find her sweet spot with the judges when she sang Fergie's Big Girls Don't Cry. Ellen called her the "Dakota Fanning of Idol", referencing Randy's comment that she's finally listening to their advice.
Casey James, brought it on in The Power Of Love by Huey Lewis and the News. Randy and Ellen were not fans of the song, but thought it was one of the best vocals of the night. Kara said he was "ready to make an album!" Simon said Casey sounded " like an 80's cover band!" When The other judges yelled at Simon, Cowell said "maybe it's because I'm English!"
Didi Benami's You're No Good by Linda Ronstadt had Randy screaming "pitchy", Ellen didn't get the song choice and Kara felt like Didi "was playing a character and not being herself!" Simon said it "was like a bad musical!"
Siobhan Magnus did Superstition by Stevie Wonder -- Randy loved it, Ellen said to quote Oliver "more please!" and Kara feels Magnus is most herself on stage. Simon wasn't a fan and added that the night wasn't a good one for him, Cowell says, with the exception of Crystal, everyone needs to push more and find better material. Maybe when they do, Simon will find a better wardrobe!!
All and all, Billboard's No. 1's was a rough night, it will be interesting to see who survives the cut. What do you think?

"Dancing" Kicks Off Season 10!
ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" kicked off-season 10 with plenty shaking, shimmering and nerves Monday night! But it was the former star of "Jon & Kate Plus 8," Kate Gosselin who was on a mission to prove to her kids that -- mommy got moves!
Before the pretty in pink Mama G. (with $7000 hair extensions) hit the ballroom with dance partner, Tony Dovolani, she revealed her children told her she couldn't dance. In pure Kate fashion she said she's going to show them.
"Without a doubt, I'm going to prove them wrong."
And just before performing a Viennese waltz that got panned by the judges, she sent a message to mothers across America.
"All the moms out there, this is for you! Wish me luck."
Now, as a new mother myself, I can certainly appreciate Kate's efforts and applaud her, but I am still wondering who was at home tucking her 8 off-spring into bed.
Dancing awkwardly and stiff to Billy Joel's, "She's Always A Women To Me," Kate failed to impress the judges especially Bruno Tolini who said; "The technique was terrible," as she stood stunned, "It looked like Tony was pushing a shopping cart acroos the floor. You have to exude something!"
Judge Carrie Anne Inaba took a softer approach.
"You're very different than the other people on the show" -- "not a performer" and "not an athlete."
Inba went on to say about the nurse turned reality TV mom: "There's a sweet vulnerability to what you do" and "You have an honesty that resonated with people."
Even though she may have challenges on the dance floor, I think Kate will sashay into the next round with breeze. Gosselin scored 16 out of 30 points and came in third to last, beating out "All My Children" star Aiden Turner and 80-year-old astronaut Buzz Aldrin who took last with 14 points.
Speaking of moms, for me, Pamela Anderson was the most anticipated celebrity of the "Dancing" debut. It wasn't surprising ABC kept the former Baywatch babe until the very end the show (now that's a way to get that male demo up). Having interviewed her many times, you just never know what Anderson is gonna say much less do -- so naturally I couldn't wait for her cha-cha with sexy partner and dancing newcomer, Damian Whitewood.
Despite looking the part with the fake tan, hair extensions and rockin' body at age 42, the blonde ambition reminded more of a sexed up rag doll than ballroom dancer. Her performance was good for Tom Bergeron who was as giddy as a school boy and Bruno broke out with his best Brunoism of the night jumping up and yelling: "Striperella's back home! Do it to me girl!"
Setting the bar for the rest of the celebrity hoofers was Pussycat Dolls lead singer, Nicole Scherzinger. After her graceful waltz with pro partner, Derek Hough, she finished at the top of the leader board earning 25 points out of 30.
Now as a former dancer myself, I personally think Scherzinger has an advantage given her hip hop past, however she told host Brooke Burke backstage.
"It's a far cry from chest pumps and booty dips."
Rounding out the ladies: "90210" alum Shannen Doherty, who amidst massive stage fright, showed a softer side expressing her reason for joining the show was to please her father who recently suffered a heartattack. ESPN anchor Erin Andrews proved to already have plenty of chemistry with dancing partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and comedian/TV host Niecy Nash who dedicated her number to "thick girls everywhere."
Dancing With The Stars: The Men--From Buzz to Evan!

The men of Season 10 --Dancing With the Stars, never a more diverse group, with everything from a legendary astronaut to an Olympic gold medalist. Who would ever think they would see the second man to walk on the moon on the same show with former Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson--American Reality TV, nothing quite like it.
NFL star Chad Ochocinco was first on the floor with partner Cheryl Burke doing the cha-cha, a dance Burke described as "fun and flirty, just like Chad." Judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Anne Inaba all agreed Ochocinco has great potential. Fresh from The Bachelor, Jake Pavelka partnered up Chelsie Hightower, who says Jake will get a lot of votes from the female audience because "he's hot." The judges were torn on Jake's performance, with Inaba saying he worked romance into his dance, while Bruno argued he was too rough.
Leaving his ice skates at the door, Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek braved the dance floor with his partner Anna Trebunskaya. Lysacek acknowledged that his experience as a skater might prove beneficial, but he had trouble turning, it's the opposite direction that skaters generally turn. Even with the challenges he faced, Lysacek scored the second-best result of the evening.
Astronaut Buzz Aldrin received loving tributes from colleagues at the space station, but all three judges agreed that the moonwalker's moves needed some work. "How can I possibly criticize a hero and a legend, but I have to do my job," Tonioli offered before he and the judges bestowed Aldrin with the lowest score of the evening. Aldrin accepted the result gracefully, declaring: "I'm looking forward to the future."
All My Children actor Aiden Turner failed to impress the judges with his cha-cha with partner Edyta Sliwinska. Carrie Ann Inaba enjoyed Turner's approach and bravado but felt he and his partner didn't hit the mark. "I gave it my all," he said "the crowd had my back, but it's nerve-racking out there."
Because the votes and scores will be combined with next week's results, none of the 11 dancers are in danger of getting the boot from the competition.
ISH loves new co-host Brooke Burke, so much better than ... The chemistry with Tom Bergeron is definitely leaps and bounds over Samantha Harris. And, hey Tom are you sporting a dancer's spray tan? -- back when we worked together on radio in Boston you never did that for us!
Who did you like? Give us your comments -- come on, who'd ya pick up the phone for?
