Hollywood Loses A Legend: John Forsythe Dead

John Forsythe, star of Aaron Spelling's Dynasty died Thursday of pneumonia after a year long battle with cancer, he was 92.

Joan Collins who played his ex-wife on the tv drama remembered Forsythe as "one of the last true gentlemen of the acting profession."

For more than 50 years film and tv audiences embraced this well loved actor; in films such as Alfred Hitchcock's The Trouble with Harry or in his first prime-time hit, the comedy Bachelor Father.

John was a last-minute substitute for George Peppard (Breakfast at Tiffany's, The A-Team), who was originally cast as oil magnate Blake Carrington on Dynasty.

From 1976 to 1981, Forsythe played the voice of Charlie Townsend, detective agency owner on Charlie's Angels. He also lent his voice to Drew Barrymore's two Charlie's Angels big-screen adventure.

If you were lucky enough to have worked with him, as many of us in Hollywood were, myself included, then you'd agree with what his daughter Brooke Forsythe said "he lived his life, with dignity and grace."
