IT'S SO HOLLYWOOD'S: TOP 5 CELEBRITY DO-GREENERS!



In honor of Earth Day, ISH is revealing our top celebrity do-greeners!

#1 Brad Pitt - After the devastating Hurricane Katrina, Pitt has devoted himself to help rebuilding New Orleans. He founded the Make It Right Foundation, which is building 150 houses in the 9th Ward using environmentally sustainable materials and technology. In 2009, Pitt meet with President Obama to discuss federal funding for green housing projects. And guess who is the voice of PBS' environmental design show e2 series? Yep... ISH's #1 Celebrity Do-Greener!

#2 Leonardo DiCaprio - In 2007, he wrote, produced and narrated the eco-doc, The 11th Hour (one of several environmental films he's been a part of). He founded the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation which supports efforts to secure a sustainable future for our planet. A member of NRDC and Global Green USA, DiCaprio's house is equipped with solar paneling, naturally. Oh ya, you can catch him driving is hybrid car around Hollywood too






#3 Cameron Diaz - One of the first celebs to buy a Prius that started an eco-car craze among fellow stars. Her MTV show Trippin promotes green travel. In 2007, she helped Al Gore kick off the Live Earth concert series.










#4 Ed Begley Jr. In the 1970s, Begley was already driving electirc cars! He's a longtime vegan and lives in a self-sufficent house that uses wind and solar for power. As one of the best known eco-conscious stars, Begley is affiliated with several green organizations including the Environmental Media Association and  the Santa Monica Mountians Conservancy. He also is the host of Living Like Ed airing on Green Planet and the author of his book Living Like Ed: A Guide to the Eco-Friendly Life. Begley has his own all natural cleaner line, called Begley’s Best Household Cleaner. If that isn't enough -- Ed pedals a stationary bike to power his toaster -- too cool!



#5 Ted Danson - For decades, Danson has been dedicated to Oceana, a non-profit that fights ocean pollution. In in 1980's, he founded the American Oceans Campaign that later merged with Oceana. The longtime environmental advocate has donated over $500,000 to eco-friendly causes.




Honorable Mentions:

Hayden Penettiere - As an avid animal-right activist, Penettiere is a stedfast anit-whaling and dolphin-hunting protestor. In 2007, she along with the anti-whaling ship Sea Shepherd, she came face-to-face with Japanese fisherman who where on a dolphin hunting trip. In 2008, she protested to the Norwegian ambassador to the United States via letter to stop the whaling activities in Norway.




Adrian Grenier - With his green website SHFT that claims to be an environmental culture curator, Grenier shares green clips from Entourage and Alter Eco - his eco-friendly lifestyle show on Planet Green. His cool ride of choice, a Prius of course.
