"Drek not Shrek" cry independent filmmakers and New York film purists!The freak-out is over the decision by The Tribeca Film Festival to invite Shrek Forever After, the fourth and final Shrek sequel to open the festival.
Although there's lots of love for Cameron Diaz and Mike Meyers - the thought of having a big studio 3D picture take the prime spot is inconceivable to film festival enthusiasts.
TFF claims that it's mission is "to assist filmmakers in reaching the broadest possible audience." So, okay the opener is meant to draw attention to other lesser known films, but does that take away the cache of the festival. What do you think Shrek or not to Shrek?
